Time to Eat the Doughnuts

The Improper Bostonian recently published a list of local Mom-and-Pop doughnuts shops in the area to check out. Here is a sampling:

Donuts With a Difference
35 Riverside Ave., Medford
781-396-1021
1 doughnut for 75 cents, $3.50 for a half dozen, and $6 for a dozen doughnuts

Doughboy Donuts and Deli
220 Dorchester Ave., Boston
617-269-7560
1 doughnut for 70 cents, $4 for a half dozen, and $5.40 for a dozen doughnuts

Mike's Donuts
1524 Tremont St., Boston
617-427-6828
1 doughnut for 85 cents, $4.75 for a half dozen, and $6.39 for a dozen doughnuts

Twin Do-Nuts
501 Cambridge St., Allston
617-254-9421
1 doughnut for 65 cents, $2.80 for a half dozen, and $4.80 for a dozen doughnuts

My own honorable mention to this list is Cafe Mirror in Brighton Center. In addition to being a great, no-frills place to hang out or enjoy a bountiful, cheap breakfast, their doughnuts are not to be missed. Their butternut doughnut is absolutely wonderful and you will enjoy it greatly. Check them out at 362 Washington St., Brighton.

Is this pic of a standard Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut?

It looks like one but I grabbed the image from Google Images. No more Krispy Kreme around here, it really sucks.
